JA Solar Holdings Co, Ltd has announced plans to develop three solar power projects with a total capacity of 300MW. The plants will be built in Xingtai City in China’s Hebei Province, in the counties of Lincheng, Neiqiu and Xingtai, each having a capacity of 100MW.

The company has obtained approval from the Hebei Provincial Development and Reform Commission to develop the first 50MW of the Lincheng County project and has also signed framework agreements with local authorities relating to the projects in Neiqiu and Xingtai counties. It expects to receive rights to develop these projects by the end of 2013.

“These projects are a major step forward as we look to increase the role project development plays in our overall revenue mix” said Mr. Baofang Jin, executive chairman and CEO of JA Solar. “Over the past three years, we've built up experience in engineering, procurement and construction through the successful execution of over 100MW of solar projects, and we see project development as a complement to our manufacturing business. Going forward, we will continue to explore project opportunities both domestically and internationally alongside our core business.”

JA Solar Holdings is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of solar power products having exported 1.7GW of solar power products in 2012. The company is based in Shanghai, China, where it also maintains production facilities alongside other plants in Hebei, Jiangsu and Anhui provinces.
