Smarter E Europe event cancelled due to COVID-19 crisis and smarter E South America 2020 postponed to November

The Smarter E Europe event, due to take place this year in Munich, has been cancelled, now due to take place in 2021, and the Smarter E South America event postponed to 16th-18th November 2020 due to the effects of coronavirus/COVID-19.
Smarter E Europe event cancelled due to COVID-19 crisis and smarter E South America 2020 postponed to November

The smarter E Europe event, with its four energy exhibitions, Intersolar Europe, Power2Drive Europe, ees Europe and EM-Power, will now not take place this year. This is on account of the spread of the virus and in response to recommendations from the German Federal Government and the Bavarian State Government. The exhibitions and conferences were originally due to take place from 16th-19th June 2020. The smarter E Europe event will instead take place from 9th-11th June 2021.

The decision to cancel the events for 2020 and hold them again in 2021 was made in close coordination with the registered exhibitors and the international industry associations.

“The health of the exhibitors, visitors and employees as well as the general public takes top priority for us” said Daniel Strowitzki, Managing Director of FWTM GmbH & Co. KG. “The smarter E Europe is a large international event with approximately 1,400 exhibitors from 45 countries and 50,000 visitors from voer 160 countries. Under the prevailing circumstances, it would be impossible to organise such an international exhibition without critical complications. It was important for us to ensure that participants were notified as early as possible so they could plan accordingly”.

As of now, the organisers are working hard to determine which parts of the exhibition and conference programme can be reproduced online. The smarter E Awards, Intersolar Awards and ees Awards will be presented to the winners online in order to honour the industry’s innovations on an international stage despite current developments. Over the course of the year, there will also be other ways for industry professionals and anyone else who is interested to stay abreast of relevant topics, products and technologies in the world of renewable energy and share knowledge and ideas.

“The current situation is challenging for all of us – exhibitors, visitors, conference participants, speakers, sponsors and organisers alike” added Markus Elsässer, CEO of Solar Promotion GmbH. “In times like these, it is important to stick together and to keep our eyes on the future of all the industries and stakeholders involved as well as our shared goal of a future-orientated energy supply.

The smarter E Europe, which encompasses the four individual exhibitions Intersolar Europe, ees Europe, Power2Drive Europe and EM-Power will take place from June 9–11, 2021, at Messe München.

Additionally, smarter E South America event, organised by Solar Promotion International GmbH (SPI), Freiburg Management and Marketing International GmbH (FMMI) and Aranda Eventos & Congressos Ltd. (ARANDA), in partnership with ABSOLAR, has been postponed to November 2020. The organisers of the event reacted promptly with the Brazilian Solar Photovoltaic Energy Association (ABSOLAR) and all partners to counteract the spread of the virus.

The smarter E South America event is Latin America’s innovation hub for the new energy world. It consists of three parallel energy exhibitions, taking a comprehensive approach to the topics of the energy system transformation by presenting cross-sector energy solutions and technologies. Focusing on the generation, storage, distribution and use of energy and the ways in which these aspects interact and can be intelligently combined, The smarter E South America brings together international stakeholders of the energy future from across the world’s most influential markets.

Existing contracts remain valid for the new date. The exhibition venue, booth number, area of exhibitors and all contractual terms and conditions will remain unchanged.

“It is very important for us to react quickly and to announce this new date which will allow exhibitors and visitors to make reliable preparations” said Dr. Florian Wessendorf, Managing Director of Solar Promotion International and Daniel Strowitzki, CEO at Freiburg Management and Marketing International. “Our partners can trust us to act responsibly and cool-headed even in difficult situations.”

The Brazilian Solar Photovoltaic Energy Association (ABSOLAR) fully understands and supports the decision.

“In such a moment of such extraordinary and unexpected circumstances, Solar Promotion International, Freiburg Management and Marketing International and Aranda acted responsibly when taking this step, which provides a clear perspective to the sector and the market regarding the event in Brazil” added Dr. Rodrigo Lopes Sauaia, ABSOLAR’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO). “Planning security is entirely in the interests of the photovoltaic sector, especially in this moment of global awareness. They have reacted cautiously, sensibly and correctly, taking all aspects of the current scenario into consideration, and prioritizing the lives, health and well-being of our society”.

The smarter E South America will take place at the Expo Center Norte in São Paulo, Brazil, on November16–18, 2020, bringing together the following events:

Intersolar South America – The Largest Exhibition and Conference for the South American Solar Industry

ees South America – South America’s Hot Spot for Batteries & Energy Storage Systems

Eletrotec + EM-Power – The Exhibition for Electrical Infrastructure and Energy Management

In addition to sector coupling and decentralisation, digitalisation is a central element of the new energy world. The growing demand for integrated and intelligently connected solutions means that companies are increasingly relying on these types of systems and services. The smarter E South America responds to this development, presenting solutions and technologies for an intelligent, sustainable and cost-effective energy supply.
