Third consecutive “Solar Meets Glass” Conference to be held in Dusseldorf, Germany

The conference will once again reunite representatives of the glass and solar industries at glassteq/solarpeg 2012 on 22nd and 23rd October, with a focus on markets, cost-cutting, increasing efficiency and PV recycling.
Third consecutive “Solar Meets Glass” Conference to be held in Dusseldorf, Germany

The venue will be the Congress Centre East, part of the Düsseldorf Exhibition Center. The solarpeq event is the ‘sister’ of ‘glasstec’, arguably the world’s most important trade fair for the glass sector, and the “solar meets glass” conference aims to promote expert exchange between both industries in this unique environment worldwide in order to show the glass industry new sales opportunities while providing the solar industry with new impulses in the race for higher efficiency rates and lower costs.

The conference agenda has been put together by Messe Düsseldorf in cooperation with Solarpraxis AG, one of the leading conference organisers in the field of renewable energies, and targets producers of thin-film and crystalline photovoltaics, solar system integrators and manufacturers of PV assembly systems. Furthermore, it addresses the producers of automation technology, glass manufacturers, system suppliers for glass applications and glass mounting systems as well as upstream suppliers to the glass and solar sectors.

The line-up of top  speakers caters to both the glass and PV industries as well as to suppliers and customers with comprehensive coverage of the current topical themes. In addition to a market and technology overview for photovoltaics, the first day of the conference will deal with manufacturing technology, efficiency as well as materials and costs associated with PV glass.

There will be lectures centre on the topics of (ultra) thin glass, the differences between float and rolled glass for PV purposes and the progress made in anti-reflection coatings for solar cover glass, to name but a few. To conclude a high-calibre discussion panel is planned to promote a targeted expert exchange amongst conference delegates.

The second day of “solar meets glass” addresses two central themes: trends, new markets and technologies revolving around building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) as well as recycling of PV modules. The theme of (re-)using solar modules is also offered as an option and addressed extensively in two sessions compiled in cooperation with the bvse – Federal Association Secondary Raw Materials and Disposal and the “Forum Glastechnik” of the German Machine and Plant Manufacturers’ Association (VDMA). The first session deals with the requirements for collecting and reusing PV modules while the second session focuses on the preparation and reclamation of raw materials. On the afternoon of the second day the delegates will conclude the “solar meets glass” conference with a visit to glasstec and solarpeq.

The participation fee for “solar meets glass” is EUR 595. Until 1st September 2012 an early-bird bargain price of EUR 495 will apply. This fee includes a 2-day ticket to visit glasstec/solarpeq plus the solarpeq exhibition catalogue.

The Recycling Session of the bvse can be booked separately at a cost of EUR 60. Here the lectures will be presented in German and interpreted simultaneously into English.
