The transaction follows the successful commissioning of the plant, built on the site of a former golf course, which is now fully operational and generating over 17,000 MWh of clean energy annually. Amazon has signed a long-term Power Purchasing Agreement (PPA) for the plant, supporting the company's goal to reach net-zero carbon emissions across its operations by 2040 as a co-founder of The Climate Pledge.

This sale is part of X-ELIO's broader strategy in Japan, where the company has already built a portfolio of 393 MW of solar power plants, with an additional pipeline of 494 MW of PV Solar and BESS projects in different stages of development. The transaction underscores X-ELIO's ability to develop, construct, and successfully hand over high-quality renewable energy assets to long-term investors, while continuing to grow its presence in one of its core strategic markets.

For Sun Trinity, the acquisition of the Funaki PV Solar Plant represents an important step in expanding its renewable energy portfolio and strengthening its ability to respond to the diverse decarbonisation needs of corporate customers in Japan. By combining newly developed projects with operating assets acquired through secondary transactions, Sun Trinity aims to offer flexible renewable energy procurement solutions, including on-site and off-site Corporate PPAs, tailored to customers’ specific requirements.
