European biogas plant manufacturer Biogest has received a fifth contract for the construction of a gas to grid biogas plant in the UK.
The plant has an output of 1,400 standard cubic meters of biogas per hour, corresponding to a thermal output of approximately 7 MW. The plant generates biogas from agricultural waste and energy crops and fed into the gas network as biomethane. It is then either converted into electricity or heat and will be able to supply approximately 4,000 households with gas.
The company is providing additional ongoing technical and biological support for an agricultural biogas plant near Manchester. This Biogest PowerCompact biogas plant has an electrical output of 124 kW and can supply about 370 households with electricity via the grid. The plant is operated exclusively with existing manure, which is available after the treatment process in the biogas plant as a high-quality ecological fertilizer.
Biogest PowerRing is a tried and tested technology which has advantages with regard to energy efficiency and operational safety as well as a space-saving modular design. A total of nine PowerCompact biogas plants have been installed in the UK, with four of them operating in the OPO (Own Plant Operations) business unit. The biogas plants are not only built by Biogest but also run jointly with the agricultural partners and the shares are held over the long term.
Biogest is an internationally active biogas plant manufacturer and operator with its headquarters in Austria and subsidiaries in the UK, France, US, Italy, Romania, Serbia and the Czech Republic. More than 130 biogas plant projects generating electricity or biomethane have been completed by the company to date.
