Evero Submits Planning Application for Flagship InBECCS Project

Evero has announced the submission of its planning application for the Ince Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (InBECCS) project, a landmark development within the HyNet industrial cluster in North West England.

InBECCS is the UK’s most advanced BECCS facility under the Government’s Greenhouse Gas Removals (GGR) business model. This submission marks a significant step forward in scaling negative emissions infrastructure to support the UK’s decarbonization goals.

Ince Bio Power currently generates energy from waste wood, diverting domestically sourced Category C material, which has no other use apart from landfill, and repurposing it into low-carbon power. By installing carbon capture technology, InBECCS is expected to capture up to 250,000 tons of CO₂ annually, permanently removing these emissions from the atmosphere while contributing to homegrown baseload energy.

Located within the HyNet cluster, the UK’s most advanced carbon capture cluster, the project was selected as a priority under the Government’s Track-1 expansion process in 2025. It will benefit from shared carbon transport and storage infrastructure, enabling the safe and permanent sequestration of captured CO₂ beneath the Irish Sea.

The InBECCS project is designed to deliver multiple environmental and economic benefits, including reducing landfill waste, generating baseload renewable energy, and providing high-quality carbon removals. It will also support regional growth through job creation, investment in domestic supply chains, and low-carbon infrastructure.

With operations targeted from 2030, InBECCS is expected to play an important role in the UK’s negative emissions infrastructure.
