Asia's Largest Biomass Industry Event Coming to Tokyo

Centre for Management Technology (CMT) is celebrating its tenth edition of Biomass Pellets Trade & Power Summit in Tokyo from May 13-16, 2019, with over 350 participants - featuring a slew of major industry players including METI, Renova, eRex, Sumitomo, WPAC and more.

This annual Tokyo meet pledges hours of networking with participants from over 35 countries. Hallmark of the summit are interacting opportunities during a Kagami-Wari (traditional sake barrel ceremony).

The Keynote Opening Address on 'Japan's Biomass Energy Policy & Towards 2030' will be presented by by Daijiro Kikushima, Deputy Director, New & Renewable Energy Division, Agency for Natural Resources & Energy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). It will be followed by threemore keynote presentations:

  • Commitment to Renewable Energy & IPP Prospects - Yosuke Kiminami, President  & CEO, Renova
  • The Biomass Supply Chain - What has Prevailed so far & the Future Outlook - Katsunori Takamitsu, Assistant GM, Materials, Supplies & Real Estate Div., Sumitomo Corporation
  • Sustainable Forest Management in British Columbia - Diane Nicols, Assistant Deputy Minister & Chief Forester, Province of British Columbia

The summit is preceded by a workshop on "Sustainability & Traceability Requirement for Imported Biomass in Japan & South Korea" and concludes with a special site visit to Summit Energy's brand new 50 MW biomass power plant in Sakata City.
