The partnership enables fleets using an Allstar card to access and pay at char.gy’s residential on-street charge points, helping to simplify access and payment for fleets transitioning from petrol and diesel to electric vehicles. Drivers must use the char.gy app to locate charge points, start charging sessions and complete payment by using their Allstar card.
char.gy operates one of the UK’s fastest growing public charging networks, with more than 5,000 charge points nationwide, primarily on residential streets for drivers without home charging.
Through the partnership, the network becomes accessible to thousands of Allstar’s business drivers as they continue to support UK businesses with a single card and consolidated billing across fuel and EV charging.
Together, the companies aim to reduce friction in fleet electrification by allowing drivers to locate and pay for charging through the same system used for traditional fuel.
The move reflects growing demand from businesses for simplified EV charging solutions as organisations begin to electrify their fleets.
A key barrier for fleets is ensuring drivers can reliably charge vehicles outside of depots. Many fleet drivers take their vehicles home, but without access to private driveways or home chargers, they rely on nearby public charging infrastructure. Without convenient local options, these drivers are often excluded from transitioning to electric.
This is particularly relevant for the increasing number of self-employed and independent drivers, who are responsible for managing their own charging and costs. Without access to affordable local charging, many rely on rapid DC chargers, significantly increasing costs and impacting profitability.
Improving access to on-street AC charging offers a clear solution. By enabling overnight, lower-cost charging near drivers’ homes, fleets can reduce energy costs, improve margins, and support more sustainable operations.
char.gy’s focus on residential on-street charging directly addresses this need, providing charge points where drivers live. Combined with Allstar’s widely used payment platform, the partnership allows fleets to support at-home charging behaviour without adding operational complexity.
“As fleets electrify, one of the biggest challenges is ensuring drivers can access reliable, convenient charging where they live” said John Lewis, CEO at char.gy. “By partnering with Allstar, we’re making it easier for drivers to find and pay for charging as part of their everyday fleet operations.”
Fleet electrification is expected to play a key role in the UK’s transition to zero-emission transport, with companies seeking solutions that simplify charging access, payment and reporting.
By connecting char.gy’s urban charging network with Allstar’s fleet payment solutions, the partnership aims to support businesses as they navigate the shift to electric mobility.
“As businesses accelerate their transition to electric vehicles, providing drivers with simple, reliable access to charging is critical” added Tom Rowlands, MD of Global EV Solutions, Corpay, including UK brand Allstar. “Our partnership with char.gy strengthens the Allstar EV network by expanding access to convenient, on-street charging in the locations where fleet drivers need it most. By integrating char.gy’s network into Allstar, we’re helping fleets remove common barriers to electrification, combining fuel and EV payments into one seamless solution, while giving drivers greater confidence that they can charge easily and cost-effectively throughout their working day.”
