The Vitocal 200-A ie monobloc unit, available this autumn, is intended to set new standards for price-performance ratio, ease of installation and servicing, placing Viessmann firmly in the fastest-growing, entry-to mid-level segment of the UK heat pump market.
This is the first of a new generation of products underpinned by One Base Intelligence. Heat pumps, solar PV, battery storage, ventilation systems and EV chargers – from Viessmann or other brands – can be intelligently networked and managed through a single logic, presented to the customer as one central control unit via the ViCare app.
Whether a homeowner starts with a heat pump, solar panels or an EV charger, every component will work with the next – so the system can be holistically built up over time, at the homeowner's convenience and as budgets allow, without fear of incompatibility of products or controls. A heat pump bought today can become a complete energy system tomorrow.
The One Base Intelligence platform is self-learning, continuously adjusting energy flows across connected components for optimal performance. Automatic OTA (Over-The-Air) software updates ensure the system stays current and gains new functions over time. All key information is displayed clearly in the ViCare app, from the heat pump's consumption and individual room control to energy management opportunities. At the heart of the system is the new Universal Controller ie, which allows customers to automate their time-of-use tariff, making it simple to take full advantage of dynamic electricity pricing. Its built-in optimizer removes the need for expensive gateways and accessories.
Designed with input from UK renewable heating experts, the Vitocal 200-A ie offers outputs from 4 to 12 kW, which covers approx 70 to 80 percent of the UK residential housing stock. It has a high flow temperature of up to 75 °C, for legionella prevention, quick hot water recovery times and making it suitable for both newbuild and retrofit projects. It achieves an energy efficiency class of A+++ and R290 is used as the refrigerant (GWP 0.02). The heat pump operates quietly at 54 or 56 dB(A) in noise-reduced operation.
The Vitocal 200-A ie is being launched with a new, improved range of four indoor units as per the existing Vitocal 150-A heat pump range. The pump and electrical heater are now integrated into the outdoor unit, saving installers time and effort. Viessmann's new Universal Controller ie unit, measuring just 45cm x 40cm x 13.5cm, can be fitted to an internal wall or the hot water cylinder inside the airing cupboard.
The Universal Controller ie can also be used as a standalone control unit – for example, to integrate solar PV or brands of other heat pumps and air conditioners into the ViCare app.
Other product highlights include the specification of a single fan outdoor unit for units up to 12 kW output, and dimensions that ensure an installed height of 90 cm. The Vitocal 200-A ie outdoor unit weighs only about 90 kgs in the lower output ranges; Even the larger models, at 118 kg, are still easy to transport. Each outdoor unit fits on a Euro pallet for easy transportation.
A new cascading concept means up to four heat pumps can be cascaded to provide a maximum 48 kW output installation, requiring only one indoor unit and one wall breakthrough, simplifying installation and saving time and money.
The Vitocal 200-A has received the prestigious iF Design Award in Germany, due thanks to its streamlined design and elegant, enclosed grille, which blends discreetly into any architectural setting, concealing the technical components and fan.
Viessmann Climate Solutions is part of Carrier Global Corporation, which specializes in intelligent climate and energy solutions. The company has operated in the UK since 1989. Its Vitocal range of air and ground source heat pumps are routinely specified by the installers who have been pioneering the UK's heat pump roll-out. Installations of Viessmann heat pumps have won multiple industry awards.
Some of these installers have been deeply involved in the latest product development process, feeding their insights into Viessmann's design engineers over the past few years up to the product sign off in late 2025. Every aspect, from how the average British person uses their airing cupboard, to heat pump pipe locations and wiring design and packaging, has been captured and channeled into the new Vitocal 200-A ie and One Base Intelligence software.
“The Vitocal 200-A intelligent energy (ie) is the heat pump that the trade has been asking for – a Viessmann product unashamedly designed for the UK that allows installers to serve all customer groups across all product and price categories” said Cameron Beech, Head of Product Management & Training at Viessmann Climate Solutions UK. "It's a price-performance champion, and the easiest ever Viessmann heat pump to install. The One Base Intelligence framework presents the market with incredibly strong reasons to come on board with Viessmann. The time is right and the opportunities are huge. Instead of installing individual products within a system, we're offering a simple, expandable and updatable ecosystem overall, open to components, controls and tariffs of the customer's choice. By opening up our ecosystem to third-party providers and integration allowing into existing system configurations from other vendors, Viessmann is putting customers first and setting a new standard for the industry. We feel a sense of responsibility to help accelerate the energy transition: affordable products, future-proofed software that will instill trust in renewable and electrified systems;
