The EV ARC transportable solar powered electric vehicle (EV) charger has been deployed at the Port of Malaga in Spain where it is being used by port employees and visitors.
BMW, Porsche, Nissan and Mitsubishi will also use the unit to demonstrate a variety of electric vehicles and promote the benefits of driving on sunshine. Premium Automotor of Marbella-Malaga will showcase both the BMW i8 and BMW i3 models on the EV ARC in forthcoming weeks.
The EV ARC was shipped to Spain in pieces and assembled at Envision’s facility in Malaga before being deployed at the Port of Malaga. The company is committed to expanding its business in international markets with a particular emphasis on the EU.

We think we’ll see a day when we see EV ARCs on every street.”
Desmond Wheatley, CEO of Envision Solar, added that the successful deployment of the unit in Europe shows that solar powered charging stations can go where the money is and that Envision Solar intends to establish a presence in the EU following member states strong commitments to deploy charging infrastructure.
According to Amsterdam Round Tables in collaboration with Mckinsey and Company, the European Union’s Clean Fuel Directive sets a target of 800,000 publicly accessible charging stations to be installed by 2020, with additional individual targets being set for each member state. The EUs clean energy policies and ambitious EV targets make it an ideal market for solar powered EV charging.
Invented and manufactured in California, the EV ARC fits inside a parking space and does not reduce available parking in any way. It generates enough clean, solar electricity to power up to 150 miles of EV driving each day. The system’s solar electrical generation is enhanced by the patented EnvisionTrak system, which causes the array to follow the sun, generating 18 to 25 percent more electricity than a fixed array. The energy is stored in the EV ARC product’s energy storage for charging day or night.
Because the EV ARC requires no trenching, foundations or installation work of any kind, it can be deployed in minutes and moved to a new location with ease. EV ARC products are manufactured in the Company’s San Diego facility by combat veterans, the disabled, minorities and other highly talented team members.
