The patent, titled “Hydrogen Production in Isothermal Chemical Looping Cycle,” is a provisional patent application that builds on two previously filed patents and describes the most recent improvements to the Company’s ThermoLoop thermochemical water splitting process together with new material compositions discovered by the UCSB technology team. The Company’s proprietary process utilizes advanced solid-state materials and machine learning-driven material discovery to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

The NewHydrogen technical team is currently building its ThermoLoop engineering test unit (ETU), an achievement that will shift the Company’s focus from technology development to generating the data needed to design its first commercial pilot plant. The ETU is an automated demonstration test system that enables 24/7, hands-free, highly iterative operation, producing the critical, high-resolution data needed to design a scaled hydrogen plant.

“The ETU is the foundation for everything that comes next. It moves us from proving the underlying science to engineering the data set that defines our first pilot plant, and from there, to the kind of scale this market is already being built around,” said Steve Hill, CEO of NewHydrogen.

The patent filing marks a significant milestone in NewHydrogen’s collaboration with leading researchers at UC Santa Barbara, who are at the forefront of advancing materials science for hydrogen production.
