The project which is currently under construction in Imperial County, California will see yet another geothermal project coming to commercial maturity in the western United States. The power purchase agreement (PPA) has provisions to up the amount of power purchased to 100 MW at Ormat’s discretion and subject to approval by the California Public Utilities Commission.

Pedro Pizarro senior vice president of Power Procurement at Southern California Edison said; "This is one of the largest contracts SCE is entering into as part of its 2006 solicitation.
