GreenYellow is accelerating its development in Europe by confirming its ambitions in Poland, currently a growing market for clean energy. The company has had a presence in Poland since 2022 and has been expanding its solar PV projects in the country since then, working with leading companies such as Biedronka, Decathlon Polska, Orange Polska and C.M.C.

Biedronka is a leading retail company in Poland, with more than 3,800 stores. GreenYellow Polska has already commissioned more than 1,500 solar PV projects for the company, as of 2024, representing 73.5 MWp of installed capacity and 70 GWh of annual production, in solar self-consumption. By the end of 2025, this should increase to more than 2,300 installations for an installed capacity of more than 100 MWp and about 100 GWh of annual production, equivalent to the electricity consumption of 40 000 inhabitants. Each of the projects is supported by a 15-year contract.

Decathlon Polska is a subsidiary of the French group, specialising in the manufacture of sports and leisure goods. GreenYellow has deployed a solarisation project for the company with an installed capacity of 2 MWc of solar PV installed in 14 stores in 12 cities, generating an annual production of 3 GWh, based on a Photovoltaics-as-a-Service (PVaaS) contract.

Orange Polska is a telecommunications specialist. GreenYellow deployed a solarisation project for the company’s data centre in Warsaw, one of the largest data centres in Poland, with a 300 kW roof-based solar power installation, producing 250 MWh per year, or 5,000 MWh over the duration of the 20-year contract, again based on a PVaaS model.

CMC Sp. z o.o. specialises in the manufacture of certified wooden pallets. GreenYellow’s solarisation project for the company was installed at its production site at Andrychów with a roof-based solar PV plant of 653 kWp, consisting of 1,500 solar panels across 3,000 square metres of roof space, producing 689 MWh per year and displacing more than 355 tons of carbon dioxide per year. This is another PVaaS model which will supply solar power for the company’s own use, particularly with regard to its energy-intensive wood drying processes.

GreenYellow offers a range of integrated solutions to electrify and decarbonise processes, including HVAC, heat and cold production, steam, cogeneration and renewable heat. These solutions are primarily aimed at the agri-food, retail, heavy transport and automotive sectors. The company takes on the risk of each project’s profitability by taking on the modernisation or replacement and operation of energy equipment, guaranteeing performance and availability, thus transforming energy installations into outsourced, managed and optimised services. To date, more than 3,500 of these energy efficiency contracts have been rolled out by GreenYellow worldwide.

The group is planning to invest 100 million euros of CAPEX in Poland over the next three years in order to strengthen its installed capacity and expand its customer portfolio, focusing on energy efficiency and storage. The aim is to support Polish companies as they move away from coal-based energy generation towards decarbonised and locally generated clean energy.

“Poland is at a turning point in its energy transition” said Dominik Radziwill, non-executive chairman and independent member of the Supervisory Board at GreenYellow. “Our investment plan, more than 80 million euros, has a clear objective: to offer companies access to clean, local and competitive energy through innovative and integrated solutions. We have the power of the GreenYellow Group and the expertise of our local teams to successfully realise this ambition.”
