New Energy Husum closes with a positive result

New Energy Husum closes its doors today a thoroughly positive result. its organizers say.
New Energy Husum closes with a positive result

“The fair has once again shown that it is the optimal platform for players in the grass roots energy transition, and this has been substantiated by the high visitor numbers and the positive feedback from the exhibitors exhibition boss Peter Becker informs us.

Despite the challenges that the sector is facing, from 21 to 23 March New Energy Husum showed that it still holds its ground as the leading trade fair for renewable energy, electric vehicles and energy-efficient building, attracting over 10,000 trade and private visitors to Husum from home and abroad.

The comprehensive congress programme and numerous new products and services on show also attracted prominent politicians from state, federal and EU level.

“New Energy Husum is a shop window for Schleswig-Holstein”, says Schleswig-Holstein’s energy transition minister Dr Robert Habeck, who visited the fair on its opening day. “Here one can see how one can work with renewable energy products in practice. It is important that the state advertises itself through this trade fair, but it is also a shop window where government ministers can come to learn: here I can get a look at the newest stimuli coming from the industry, from small wind turbines to electric cars.“

New products from all sectors

Numerous exhibitors use the fair to present their new products for the first time. These include small wind turbines that are particularly suitable for low wind areas, new substructures for east-west facing solar panels, and new wood burners, mini solar systems for own consumption and small-scale manure-based biogas plants that are still financially viable even the cuts in the feed-in tariffs resulting from the new amendment to the Renewable Energy Sources Act.

“The topics of green building and energy efficiency are increasingly gaining in importance, and this was something we were able to see impressively at the various exhibition stands”, Becker says.

In addition to a special exhibition that also featured talks about energy-efficient new builds and renovation of old buildings, and exhibition stands showing insulating material made from seaweed, wood burning ovens and energy-efficient windows and doors, come companies also exhibited energy-efficient lighting. This included new technology for LED products and low energy lamps based on induction technology.

Massive interest at industry association stands and on the test track

“We are very satisfied with the trade fair, and have attracted a wide audience“, agrees Marion Wiesheu from the German Biogas Association. “For the members of the German Small Wind Turbine Association (BVKW) taking part in the trade fair has certainly paid off”, confirmed BVKW director Roger Schneider. “This is the meeting place of the international small wind turbine industry, and this is where you find the largest selection of small wind turbines in Europe. In our opinion, there can be no better venue for this trade fair.”

The test track in the open-air exhibition area was also a complete success. Lüdemann & Zankel AG, the biggest dealer in Renault electric vehicles in Schleswig-Holstein, supplied the Renault Twizy and Renault Kangoo for test drives. ”The fair was definitely the right platform for us”, says Thomas Becker, electric vehicle specialist at the Lüdemann & Zankel Group. “We could barely cope with the onslaught of visitors.”

Holger Hunecke, sales director at Olympic Auto GmbH of Langenhorn, and supplier of the Nissan Leaf, agrees:  “We are very content, the reception by the public was huge. In addition to the many informative discussions we also had numerous sales discussions. The fair had already paid off for us after one and a half days.”
