QSolar makes first shipments from new Chinese factory

The first shipment of 100 KW in capacity was shipped during the week of 4 July 2011 to Solexia Ltd., a solar installation company located in Modena, Italy. Valued at $160,000, it is the initial shipment in a total 314 KW order worth $500,000.

“This represents a significant milestone for the company in that we are now a fully independent manufacturing company with our own manufacturing facilities, using our own proprietary manufacturing processes, designs and quality controls,” said QSolar CEO Andreas Tapakoudes.

QSolar’s manufacturing facility will enable the company to significantly increase profitability and better protect our intellectual property,” he said.

Last month, it was announced that QSolar had qualified for a Chinese export incentive of 17 per cent of the dollar value of panel exports from China. It also won a large contract order for a 2.5 MW project in the US state of Oregon.
