This year’s event will take place on 2-3 December 2025 in Graz, in the Austrian region of Styria, hosted by Styrian Business Promotion Agency (SFG). Styria is at the heart of Europe’s battery innovation landscape and home to a thriving ecosystem of advanced materials research, electric mobility, and battery manufacturing.
“We are proud that Graz has been selected as the host city for the Battery Innovation Days 2025” said Michael Liebminger, Lead for the Styrian Battery Development Project at SFG. “Hosting this event underscores Styria’s role as a key hub for battery technology and reinforces Austria’s position within the European battery value chain.”
In the face of global competition, batteries are more than just a key enabler of electrification, they are strategic assets for Europe’s industrial leadership and energy resilience. Investing in research and innovation is essential to boost Europe's competitiveness and strengthen the entire battery value chain, from raw materials to end-use applications.
This year, Battery Innovation Days will explore how Europe can turn cutting-edge battery innovation into industrial success, with sessions spanning next-generation technologies, resilient supply chains, and strategic funding. Particular attention will be given to the role of batteries in driving economic strength, supporting grid stability, and transforming electronics and mobility. Discussions will cover AI-enabled smart cells, advanced manufacturing, and investment strategies - shedding light on how innovation and policy can work together to power Europe’s competitiveness and autonomy.
The fifth edition of the Battery Innovation Days aims to foster connections between industry, research, and policy stakeholders, offering a dynamic environment for exchange and collaboration, with dedicated networking sessions and an engaging exhibition area. Already confirmed their presence as exhibitors: AVL, Andritz, Battery Cluster Portugal, Austrian Business Agency, BM-Rosendahl, EnergyVille, NXP Semiconductors, K1-MET, Polymer Competence Centre Leoben, ReMade@ARI, and Virtual Vehicle Research.
Registrations for the event are now open. Participants can join online or in person: the organisers are expecting 400 attendees onsite and more than 1000 online.
