The milestone was achieved through the company’s existing wind portfolio, supported by the commissioning of power plants under the YEKA-2 programme. A total of 16 installed wind farms helped to achieve this, representing one of the most extensive privately operated wind portfolios in Turkey’s renewable energy history. This capacity not only strengthens the country’s energy security but also contributes to the development of a sustainable and competitive structure in the electricity market.
Enerjisa Üretim now ranks among the top 10 private sector players in Europe in terms of wind energy capacity. This in turn demonstrates the company’s strong alignment with Europe’s energy supply security, green transition and supply chain resilience objectives.
The installed capacity is expected to enable the generation of clean energy equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of approximately 1.7 million households. Enerjisa Üretim is aiming to achieve at least 6,250 MW of total installed capacity by the end of 2028, supported by the completion of ongoing investments and the commissioning of new capacity additions.
Enerjisa Üretim has played an active role in the transformation of the Turkish energy sector since 1996, accelerating its growth in wind energy from around 2010 onwards. This progression has been shaped by YEKA projects, hybrid power plant applications and the contribution of domestic technologies. Following the completion of the YEKA-2 process, Enerjisa Üretim is expected to account for at least 10 percent of Turkey’s total installed wind power capacity, utilising its own portfolio.
The company’s growth strategy extends beyond mere capacity expansion, focusing also on social impact, skills development and inclusion. The Women Transforming Wind into Energy (REDKA) programme, launched in 2023, for example, is aiming to strengthen the expertise of female engineers and technicians in the renewable energy sector. Within this programme, the Çanakkale Ovacık Wind Power Plant stands out particularly as the first wind power plant in Türkiye where official acceptance and operational processes are managed end-to-end by female professionals.
Enerjisa Üretim is aiming to expand this model to new projects and drive its wider adoption across the sector as a concrete example of the just transition and inclusive growth approach, which also ranks among Europe’s priority agendas.
“Surpassing the 1,000 MW threshold in wind energy is a tangible demonstration of the role the private sector plays in Türkiye’s energy transition” said Enerjisa Üretim CEO İhsan Erbil Bayçöl. “Looking ahead, we have a long-term growth roadmap in wind energy that exceeds 2,000 MW, pursued with determination and consistency. Reaching this scale in our 30th year is a natural outcome of our long-term investments and the contribution we have made to the national energy strategy.”
