Vestas receives order for 74 MW for the Spanish market

 

The order compromises 37 V90 2.0 MW wind turbines and is for Les Rotes y Monclues in Spain.

The project will supplied with installation , a VestasOnlineTM Business SCADA solution as well as a five-year service agreement, these have been the standard included elements in almost all Vestas agreements to date. The region where the project is located in is in the province of Lerida in the Catalan Pyrenees. Catalonia has 347 MW of installed wind capacity already and is targeting 1000 MW by 2010. The delivery of the turbines will begin in 2009 for the project , and it is expected that 144 Gwh will be produced annually.

The order was made by Eolia Renovables. The company is one of the major companies in the Spanish renewable energy sector.

Juan Araluce, President of Vestas Mediterranean A/S was quoted as saying; “We are very satisfied that Eolia Renovables has chosen Vestas to take advantage of the wind potential of Catalonia,” “This new contract is a further step towards developing Vestas’ position in this region, which has a growing interest in wind energy.”
