Tokyo Electric Power or TEPCO is the largest utility company in Asia. Construction is slated to start in spring of 2008 and operations by the end of 2009. The maximum output of the plant will be 1 MW and it is hoped that the plant can help to offset 1,900 tons of CO2 emissions a year.
The plant will be the first hydro power plant for TEPCO in almost 50 years. TEPCO has had to deal with big problems at its Kashiwazaki Kariwa nuclear power plant, which was shutdown during a powerful earthquake.
