Sunotec is deepening its commitment to a region that has become one of Europe's most dynamic renewable energy frontiers. Southeast Europe is entering a decisive decade for solar and energy storage, driven by EU decarbonisation goals, rising electricity demand, and strong investor appetite for clean energy infrastructure. Romania, in particular, stands out with its favorable regulatory environment, grid modernization efforts, and ambitious renewable targets set under the National Energy and Climate Plan, which envisions over 8 GW of installed solar capacity by 2030.
With Sunotec Romania, Sunotec is bringing its full turnkey renewable energy expertise closer to local partners, delivering integrated, bankable, and high-performing renewable assets that combine technical excellence, cost efficiency, and long-term reliability.
Since entering the Romanian market in early 2024, Sunotec has already built 132 MWp of installed capacity and developed a pipeline exceeding 1 GWp of PV projects and 1 GWh of storage capacity planned for the next two years. This strong momentum highlights Romania's growing role in Europe's renewable energy landscape, and Sunotec's ability to deliver at scale.
Building on this foundation, Sunotec Romania provides turnkey renewable energy solutions spanning the entire lifecycle of utility-scale solar and hybrid projects, from early-stage development and permitting to engineering, construction, and grid integration.
The new entity is led by George Drobot, Managing Director of Sunotec Romania. Drobot has contributed to the delivery of some of Romania's largest utility-scale solar projects and now leads Sunotec's mission to build a strong local engineering and project execution team.
“My focus at Sunotec is to lead and expand our turnkey activities locally, building on Sunotec's European expertise and resources to deliver full-scope, high-quality solutions for Romania's rapidly growing solar and energy storage market” said Mr Drobot. “By combining local presence with international experience, we can respond faster to project realities, navigate regulatory frameworks effectively, and ensure consistent performance across all phases of a plant's lifecycle.”
Sunotec's strengthened local presence aims to ensure close collaboration with Romanian suppliers, faster response to permitting and construction challenges, and end-to-end project reliability. The company's integrated approach enables long-term asset performance, providing investors and developers with bankable solutions that contribute directly to Romania's clean energy goals.
