HAPSS is the largest project within ‘Luchtvaart in Transitie’ (Aviation in Transition), a program overseeing a €383M National Growth Fund investment targeting strategic opportunities for the accelerated introduction of next generation, sustainable aviation solutions. The program focuses on breakthrough technologies for efficient aircraft development, along with associated long-term research and adjacent activities.
The goal of HAPSS is to fly a fully certifiable liquid hydrogen electric propulsion system, while fostering Dutch production capacity throughout the entire supply chain over the coming four years. The HAPSS program is an international, consolidated effort to build Tier 1 capability in the Netherlands, as a leading supplier of hydrogen fuel cell propulsion systems.
The HAPSS consortium is a partnership, led by Conscious Aerospace, of the following companies:
“International collaboration to achieve our goals is an absolute must. The consortium we have assembled has the capability, experience, and drive needed to achieve a fully certified solution. With strong government backing we can act now by designing and delivering a certified retrofitted Dash 8-300 with our novel propulsion system and start flying towards the end of this decade.” stated Erik Geertsema, CEO of Conscious Aerospace.
Looking ahead, the company aims to become a leading Tier 1 engine manufacturer in the Netherlands - offering retrofit solutions for existing aircraft and powering the next generation of clean sheet, hydrogen electric aircraft.
