The hydrogen highway will run between Oslo and Stavanger along the western coast and will entail five refueling stations along the route. This may not sound like much, but considering that the route is approximately 580 kilometers or 360 miles the extended range vehicles will defiantly come in handy. The initiative in Norway in which industry, government and organizations are taking part in could eventually be expanded to include much of the rest of Scandinavia. This would take place under the Scandinavian Hydrogen Highway Partnership, in addition to Norway’s HyNor, HyFuture of Sweden and Hydrogen Link of Denmark is part of this.
Scandinavia has been at the forefront of emissions reduction and vehicle efficiency over the years in the regulatory environment. This has been due to both the environmental consciousness of the region and the high taxes levied on vehicles. The vehicles provided by Quantum will feature the company’s electronic multi point hydrogen injection system, turbocharger and intercooler. The system is certified to meet both American and European safety standards and has passed American crash tests.
The extended fuel range vehicle are designed to allow for up to 30 percent more range and will have the companies’ hydrogen fuel storage module as well as hydrogen fuel delivery system.
