Mr Miguel Sanz, Navarra's Regional President, and Mr José Manuel Entrecanales, Acciona's Chairman, where present in the ceremony. Many of the huerta solar owners also attended the act.
With this project, Acciona totals seven plants in Spain with 23 MW, 177 m euros invested and more than 2,000 individual investors.
Powering more than 5,000 households
Monte Alto solar parks sits on 51 hectares at Milagro, a small town in Northern Spain. It contains 889 units, with most of them using an automatic Buskil tracking systems, developed by Acciona Solar. The expected production, at over 14 m kWh per year, can meet the electricity needs of some 5,000 homes and will prevent the emission of almost 13,500 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, equivalent to the activity of 673,000 trees.
“This huerta solar represents and important milestone for Acciona Solar", said the company in a press release. Its huge dimensions required digging 30 km of furrows for cable laying, installing 90 km of pipes or using 6,000 m3 of concrete. In total, the facility uses 52,706 PV modules.
