LDK Solar and Jiangxi Solar PV seal deal

The contract covers the delivery of approximately 70MW of multicrystalline solar wafers to Solar PV Corporation-backed Jiangxi Solar PV.

The agreement will start in 2009 and will run until 2013, totalling five years. "We are excited to enter this long-term wafer supply agreement with Jiangxi Solar PV as they launch a new venture within the Jiangxi Province. We are very pleased to begin this strategic partnership and aid in the development of more solar PV companies in Jiangxi." said Mr Xiaofeng Peng, chairman and CEO of LDK Solar.

The solar PV industry is at the moment involved in a technological battle in which some players are choosing thin film technology for the long term, while others are sticking to more traditional multicrystalline solar panels. In the coming years we will know which technology wins the battle, in case both do not survive.
