Mastervolt presents inverters and monitoring solutions at PVSEC

Mastervolt, one of the world's leading providers of electronic equipment in the area of solar power generation, presented last week a broad range of inverters and monitoring systems for different application areas at this year´s Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference PVSEC, which was held in Milan, Italy.

At the 22nd European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC) which took place from September 3 – 7 in Milan, Mastervolt showed its entire product range for grid coupled solar power systems from the new Sunmaster XS6500 to communications modules for installation monitoring.

The new top of the range Sunmaster XS6500 was presented for the first time at the Intersolar tradeshow in Freiburg, Germany, last June. It is designed for an output of 4.6 kW and an input voltage of up to 600 Volt. The XS6500 rounds out and enhances Mastervolt's IP44 product range, which is intended for outdoor use. Like the Sunmaster QS3500 and the Sunmaster QS3500 Max-I, the Sunmaster XS6500 has two input ports each equipped with an MPP tracker. The MPP tracker used combines the benefits of static and dynamic processing. It takes a wide range of parameters into account, including changes and differences in temperature of the solar modules, in order to permanently maintain the solar power generator at the optimum operating point. This in turn permits an optimum energy yield even where sub-generators are variously aligned or in the event of shading loss.

One of the special features of Mastervolt's IP44 inverters is their behaviour with weak insolation. Thanks to a low starting voltage and switch-on threshold of only four Watts, even low insolation can be exploited, which can be crucial for the viability of a solar power 2 system. Another feature of Mastervolt's IP44 inverters is the forced cooling, which reliably prevents the equipment from overheating and ensures top performance even at an ambient temperature of 40ºC.

Mastervolts Sunmaster XL inverter comes with a protection rating of IP54 for use in arduous conditions. The XL model was designed for use in large solar power installations in which the distance between modules and inverters needs to be kept as short as possible or where, for commercial and legal reasons, the modules and inverters form a physical unit. The Sunmaster XL comprises three highly efficient switch mode modules, each with its own MPP tracker, in a housing which allows space for additional DIN rails. Depending on the model, the XL product range's output is between 10 kWp and 17kWp. The Sunmaster XL is also equipped with the forced cooling system developed by Mastervolt. Ambient temperatures of 40ºC have virtually no impact on the XL's performance.

Alongside the new IP44 and IP54 series models, visitors to the Milan exhibition could also see the Soladin and Sunmaster models of the IP23 series, whose capacity ranges from 100Wp up to 7,200 Wp. Mastervolt's exhibition programme was completed with the Data Control series communication module, which permits flexible, reliable and user-friendly monitoring of grid coupled solar systems.
