Under the theme Connecting Minds, Creating the Future, the Dubai bid will focus on three sub-themes, one of which is sustainability; a theme at the core of MESIA’s mandate and vision.
“This is a fantastic initiative on the part of the UAE and it will no doubt raise awareness about the vast potential for solar power in this region,” said Vahid Fotuhi, President of MESIA. “It is perfectly aligned with MESIA’s mission to promote solar across the Middle East”
The Board of MESIA said among the factors leading to its endorsement was the announcement that 50 percent of the energy consumed by the proposed 438-hectare Dubai Expo 2020 site will come from renewable energy sources.
