Moser Baer, one of the world's leaders in CD and DVD technology, has purchased a 40 % stake in Solarvalue AG, a German solar-grade silicon manufacturer.
Also related to its solar activities, Moser Baer PV recently announced the creation of the world's largest thin film solar manufacturing plant, which comes on top of its recent investments in several American solar technology companies. Additionally, the firm has an 80 MW crystaline silicon manufacturing plant under testing, ready to start commercial production this month.
'Solarvalue wants to emerge as a leading producer of solar grade silicon. It is our goal to be a significant player in the fast growing PV market space and this acquisition will enable us to access high quality solar grade silicon at competitive pricing.', said Mr Ravi Khanna, CEO of Moser Baer.
