“This is a major step toward the country’s clean energy future,” the company said in a press release.

The event brought together external partners, international colleagues and local representatives to celebrate this important milestone. The ceremony was enriched by speeches from key stakeholders including the mayor of Hadžići and the premier of Sarajevo Canton, who shared insights into their experiences, the challenges overcome and the potential for future projects.

After several years of development, we’re proud of our team’s ability to overcome challenges such as complex terrain, high altitudes and harsh weather conditions to deliver a high-quality, on-schedule project.

Developed with the support of numerous subcontractors from the region and beyond, the project underscores our strong capacity for teamwork and cross-border cooperation. We are especially proud of the strong partnerships built with the Municipality of Hadžiči and the local communities.

The importance of this project to the Municipality of Hadžići was also highlighted by Mayor Eldar Čomor, who stated, “This project has sparked economic progress and become a recognizable symbol of innovation and environmental awareness. The importance of the investment for the local community is diverse — from a cleaner environment and new jobs to additional funds for the Municipality of Hadžići's budget.

“I believe this is just the beginning as we have a clear goal: the development of environmentally sustainable, long-term profitable, and socially responsible energy solutions. We also have the potential and the will to continue in that direction.”

The ceremonial event was also attended by the Premier of Sarajevo Canton, Nihad Uk, who stated, “Today we are opening the first wind park in the history of Sarajevo Canton. This wind park represents a source of clean and renewable energy for Sarajevo and beyond, helps improve the competitiveness of our economy, and contributes to energy stability and independence — both for Sarajevo Canton and for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“It’s not a question of years, but months before the European Union introduces so-called carbon taxes on export goods. That’s why projects like this are becoming even more important, and we look forward to their future development.”

This wind park consists of five Siemens Gamesa turbines with a total installed capacity of 25 MW. It is expected to produce enough electricity to power approximately 11,000 households and help avoid more than 32,000 tons of CO₂ emissions annually. Beyond the numbers, the project represents a critical step toward energy security and sustainability for the Sarajevo Canton and the surrounding region.
