Nordex to develop 62.7MW wind farm in The Netherlands

Wind energy developer Nordex has won a contract to install the Delfzijl-Noord wind farm for its customer Eneco Wind BV from autumn 2014 consisting of a total of 19 strong-wind N100/3300 turbines.

The turbines will be connected to the Dutch national grid by March 2015, supplying 55,000 households with green electricity. The order for the wind farm also includes a 15-year premium service contract incorporating a service point close to the wind farm itself.

The facility will have a total output of 62.7MW and will be built 1.5 kilometres from the town of Delfzijl in the North-East of the Netherlands. The site is near the coast on the Schermdijk and the Pier van Oterdum, where there are rough wind conditions, necessitating the deployment of efficient and powerful Nordex N100/3300 Generation Delta turbines. This particular model has a nominal output of 3.3 megawatts, a 100 metres diameter rotor and, if needed, can be run in sound-optimised cycles so as to interfere as little as possible with the environment and close-by dwellings.

“We are pleased that construction works have now started at the Delfzijl-Noord wind farm and that our strong-wind turbines N100/3300 of the Generation Delta soon will show their high performance at this site” said Lars Bondo Krogsgaard, member of the Management Board of Nordex SE. “Also, I am proud that Eneco once more has opted for us.”

Pieter Tavenier, director Wind at Eneco said that the partnership is in line with the company’s strategy to work together with organisations that share its values and enable the company to achieve its mission to supply ‘sustainable energy for everyone’. Nordex has also signed a contract with Eneco for the Scottish “Moy” project comprising 20 N100/3300 Generation Delta turbines.
