Located mainly in the municipality of Cuca, in the county of Galati, the wind farm consists of 16 Vestas V162-6.2 MW™ turbines. With a capacity of 99.2 MW, Green Breeze is now fully operational and able to supply electricity to the grid. This is Nala's largest project to date, delivered from development through to operation in just over two years - marking the successful completion of its first project in Romania.
The wind farm will supply Apple with clean energy through a long-term power purchase agreement, supporting Apple's commitment to bring new renewable energy capacity online and helping match customer electricity use with clean power.
Ralph Spernagel, Head of Construction at Natural Power, said, "We were delighted to support Nala Renewables on the delivery of Green Breeze. The completion and handover of this wind farm represents a significant milestone for the project team and another important step in the development of Romania's renewable energy infrastructure.
"As owner's engineer, we worked closely with Nala and a diverse group of international stakeholders throughout the project, providing technical expertise and oversight to support the successful delivery of the asset. The scale and complexity of a project such as Green Breeze requires close collaboration, strong communication and a shared focus on quality, and it has been a pleasure to work alongside the wider team.
"We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with Nala as it expands its renewable energy portfolio."
Remy Verot, Nala Renewables' Interim CEO, said, "Green Breeze reflects our ability to execute and deliver critical utility-scale infrastructure projects, and I am proud to share that this is our largest project to date to achieve commercial operation. I would like to thank our team at Nala Renewables and all our partners for their dedication throughout the journey from development through to completion.
"As a leading independent power producer, this project showcases our ability to develop, build and invest in high-quality projects across our core markets. The project will deliver long-term environmental and economic value for the region, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on the region's energy future."
