OX2 acquires Polish wind power company

The Swedish renewable energy company OX2 has acquired Polish company Greenfield Wind giving the company the local expertise it requires to build wind farms in Poland.
OX2 acquires Polish wind power company

OX2’s goal is to expand the company and to achieve a leading position in the wind power sector. Greenfield Wind is a Warsaw-based development company specialising in wind power projects. The acquisition includes all the company’s operations, eleven staff and a 220MW project portfolio.

“Poland is an exciting market, and we have now acquired the local expertise we need to start the construction of several projects within the next two years” said Johan Ihrfelt, President and CEO of OX2. “We are looking forward to working with our new colleagues to make high-quality wind power projects a reality.”

The Polish wind power market has consolidated and matured over the last few years and 2015 will see the introduction of a new auction-based support system. This will in turn require high standards of quality and the ability to predict costs reliability, something that OX2 is used to given its many years’ experience in the wind power value chain.

Peter Hogren, former CEO of Greenfield Wind and now current Managing Director and Country Manager of OX2 Wind Poland, commented that his company is delighted to be part of OX2 as it positions the company as a leading turnkey supplier of wind power packages in Poland.

“Not only will we be able to realise and expand our own project portfolio, but we will also be able to expand the company by acquiring external projects” added Mr Hogren.

OX2, formerly known as O2, has constructed almost half of the large-scale onshore wind power capacity in the Nordic region with around 600MW of capacity and a planned 1,000MW of wind power. It currently has management agreements for 23 wind farms which produce more than 1.4TWh per year and is also involved in other forms of renewable energy, particularly bioenergy.
