The Hamburg-based company is set to deliver 13 3.4M104 wind turbines to San Marco in Lamis, a wind farm located north-east of Foggia.
The turbines will have a rated output of 3.4 MW and a hub height of 80 meters each. Construction is scheduled to begin later this year.
“This is the second contract for the 3.4M104 in Italy. It confirms the excellent market-fit of this turbine and strengthens our market presence in Italy,” said Andreas Nauen, CEO of REpower Systems SE.
Carlo Schiapparelli, Managing Director of REpower Italia S.r.l., said the company is delighted to be working with Alerion, with whom it first collaborated with in 2007. That project, dubbed Ordona, utilized 17 REpower MM92 turbines.
“This second project confirms that Alerion – an important client for REpower Italia with a high level of renewable energy expertise – regards us as reliable supplier,” Schiapparelli said.
Under the contract, REpower will supply, install and commission the turbines, and then provide ongoing services for the next 12 years.
Headquartered in the city of Milano, REpower Italia S.r.l. sells REpower multi-megawatt wind turbines in Italy and provides project management and full after-sales service. Since being founded in 2004, the company has installed wind turbines with a total output of more than 500 MW.
In terms of annual installed capacity in 2010, REpower was ranked third among the wind turbine suppliers in Italy.
