Israel’s “solar village” boasts solar power on over 70 percent of its roofs

In the settlement Ram-On in Israel, modules from aleo solar AG produce solar power on over 70 percent of the roofs. Aleo’s Israeli partner, Solenergy Ltd., installed the photovoltaic plants with an output of 15 - 50 kilowatts on more than 25 residential and agricultural buildings. Meanwhile, this month also sees two other German companies have received the “TOP BRAND PV“ quality seal by EuPD Research.
Israel’s “solar village” boasts solar power on over 70 percent of its roofs

The residents of the moshav feed their solar power into the public power grid to take advantage of the attractive feed-in tariff available in Israel. Operators of small plants (less than 15 kW) receive €0.38 per kilowatt hour over 20 years – operators of large plants (more than 15 kW) receive €0.30 per kilowatt hour over 20 years. Israel offers extremely good framework conditions as a location for photovoltaic plants: 1,750 kilowatt hours can be produced per kilowatt nominal output each year.

Amit Leventer, Managing Director of Solenergy, explains: “My customers have high expectations with regard to reliability, performance stability and useful working life of the plants. Modules from aleo solar are designed to deliver high yields over the long-term.”

aleo solar AG ist not only a solar module producer, it sees itself as a service company. "We don’t just supply our specialist dealers with solar modules and optimally suited inverters and frames. We also provide expert technical consultation on the arrangement of the plants and extensive marketing support”, explains Pascal Bertolone, Market Development Manager at aleo solar AG.

aleo solar AG has tripled its turnover in Israel from 2010 to 2011. In 2011, the German module manufacturer sold modules with a nominal output of 1.2 megawatts. 2012 aleo solar AG will continuously strengthen its position in the Israeli market.

Despite aleo solar’s optimism, Israel still remains a minor photovoltaics player, even though it boasts high levels of irradiation and technical potential. Total installed capacity at the end of 2010 only amounted to between 45 and 48 MW.

Nonetheless, the Israli government announced a national plan in July last year setting a capacity target of 2.76 GW of renewable sources by the end of the decade to achieve a 10% share for renewables.
It has also set an interim target of just under 1.6 GW by the end of 2014. Between now and 2014, the government is looking for 460 MW from large-scale solar installations and 110 MW from rooftop solar to contribute to this figure.

”Top Brand PV“

Meanwhile, another German solar photovoltaic manufacturer, Q.Cells has been awarded the “Top Brand PV“ seal in in Germany, France and Italy by EuPD Research.

The seal was awarded after an independent survey of installers and end-customers conducted by the Bonn-based market and opinion research company found that Q:Cells boasted a high aided brand awareness among end-customers and had gained a strong position in the brand portfolios of installers.
The share of this brand in the sales volume of the installers – the so called distribution depth – is very high. Q.Cells solar modules were also rated above average in the most important solar markets and were therefore awarded with the seal “TOP BRAND PV” by EuPD Research.

The “Top Brand PV“ seal was developed by EuPD Research in 2010 as a way of objectively evaluating the brand management strategies of module and inverter manufacturers. Statements made by market intermediaries and end customers serve as the foundation of the evaluation. Manufacturers thus receive an unfiltered assessment of their own brand as well as feedback on where potential lies to optimize their brand management.

Only a few leading manufacturers who have undergone a rigorous quality check are allowed to carry this seal. Therefore, Q.Cells belongs to a small group of elite brands worldwide. The first company to receive the label was Dutch company, Scheuten Solar in June 2011. Since then, two Japanese firms, Sanyo Solar (Panasonic) and Sharp Corporation have joined the list, while Q-Cells and  Sovello are the only German companies to be awarded the seal.

“This award confirms our dedication to a sustainable customer orientation. Q.Cells is associated with quality and reliability not only among our partners, the installers and wholesalers, but is also regarded as an innovative and high-quality product among end-customers. This quality seal presents a first class reference for us”, said Clemens Jargon, responsible for global marketing, sales and product management at Q.Cells.
