German company Solon, one of the largest solar PV module and tracking system manufacturer in Europe has announced the construction of a new manufacturing unit in one of its solar PV construction plants in Italy, thus 'reinforcing its leadership position' in the country.
The new unit, with a manufacturing capacity of 120 MW, will be located in Carmignano di Brenta, and it will increase the company's production capacity in Italy to 150 MW. The enlargement of the plant will cost 25 m euros and it will create around 200 new jobs, according to Solon.
The new plant will become one of Europe's largest solar PV manufacturing plant.
The plant will start operation before the end of 2008, when three different production lines. The plant will be producing Solon 220 panels and other modules that can be mounted on its Solon Mover tracker.
